Workin' On Me
Music and lyrics by Christine Vales

Going through a home renovation is never easy. In fact, a lot of times, you wonder, “When will this ever be done? How will I be able to finish this?” However, after it’s all said and done, you see that it was all worth it! God, the master carpenter, is continually working on each of us. There are times I have a tendency to question Him as He does His work on me. Although I sometimes resist, way down deep in my heart, I really do want His loving discipline and renovation in my life. Jesus is unlike any other carpenter. He finishes each work, right on time, and His work is always amazing! This is a song of surrendering to Him, giving Him the Okay to keep workin’ on me. (Proverbs 3:11-12, Isaiah 29:16, 64:8, John 15:2, Philippians 1:6)

I’m a work in progress
I’m a portrait – yet undone
I am sculpture to be fired
I am artwork of the Son
But don’t listen to me
When I start to cry “Oh No”
And You chip away these pieces- Just keep workin’

CHORUS:
Keep workin’ on me (keep workin’ on me)
Just do what You have to do (have to do)
Keep workin’ on me (keep workin’ on)
‘Cause I know that You love me
Keep workin’- I’m trustin’ You- well now---

I’m a field wild with orchids
I’m a vineyard in the rain
I’m a weeping- a weeping willow- I gotta cry
And I’m longing to bring shade
But don’t listen to me
When I start to cry “Oh No”
And You prune away these branches- Just keep workin’

CHORUS

I know You finish what You start
(that’s what You say) That’s what You say
So I’ll keep holdin’ on as You restore my heart
Oh- yeah- Don’t’ listen to me- Just keep workin’

CHORUS

Keep workin’ on me (keep workin’ on me)
Just do what You have to do (have to do)
Keep workin’ on me (keep workin’ on)
‘Cause I know that You love me (know that You love me)
Yeah- I know that You love (know that You love me)
Well- I know that You love me (know that You love me)
Oh- I know that You love me--Keep workin’- I’m trustin’ You
Oh- I’m gonna keep trustin’ You---oh yeah
