THE ASCENSION OF JESUS
IYAR 25, 5780 // 40th day of The Omer Count
“But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away.
For if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you.
But if I go, I will send Him to you.”
Really?
How could it be better for Jesus to leave His disciples
after such a triumphal victory over dearth?
Wouldn’t it be better if He stayed?
In the natural it looked as if Jesus were abandoning them.
However, He was not leaving them comfortless.
In fact, His going would bring about the coming of
The Comforter – The Holy Spirit
... just 10 days later on Pentecost.
In the Old Covenant,
The Holy Spirit would come and go on believers.
But now under the New and Better Covenant,
He would reside within them forever.
Jesus confirmed this in John 14:17 saying
“…for now He dwells WITH you
- but then He shall be IN you.”
That has always been the Father’s desire.
Not just to dwell among us – but to dwell IN us!
Jesus made that possible.
In this month of understanding secrets-
may we be encouraged with this truth as believers in Christ.
For THIS is the mystery! THIS is the secret that was hidden
from the ages past which has NOW been revealed to us…
Christ IN us—the hope of Glory!
